 THE UNWILLING BRIDE
By Cheryl Ann Smith
Publisher: Wild Rose Press
Meg has fled her home to escape the lecherous attentions of the lord of the keep. Now she has come under the care of a reluctant warrior, who promises her his protection, and nothing more. In an age of knights and ladies fair, one woman will have to choose between freedom and her desire for the one man who could conquer her wary heart.

The first blow caught Gavin McClendon under his chin and bright fairy lights danced before his eyes. The wench leaned forward with the intent to slam her fair head into his face a second time. He released her and pulled back before she could do further damage to his countenance.
"I will not marry Lord Westlake!" his captive cried. She spun to land a booted foot against the layering of flesh that, until this moment, was his uninjured right knee. His muted grunt was silenced by the rising intensity of her voice. "I will boil myself in oil before I allow that pompous ass to lay a single lustful finger on my person!"
Gavin stepped back a safe pace and frowned. This was not the sweet lass he'd been lead to believe was kidnapped on her wedding eve. The wench made it perfectly clear she wasn't pleased to be rescued. He worked his jaw with his hand. Meg of Briar Castle was a foul-tongued little dervish. That Lord Westlake wanted to marry her at all was incomprehensible.
